The BMV-700 is a battery monitor that works like a fuel gauge for your battery bank, tracking voltage, current, ampere-hours consumed, state of charge, time-to-go, and power consumption in watts. Complex algorithms account for discharge current, temperature, and battery age to keep those readings accurate.

The BMV-702 adds a second input that can be programmed to monitor a second battery's voltage, battery temperature, or midpoint voltage — useful for spotting a failing cell in a large series-connected battery bank before it causes serious damage.

Installation

All electrical connections run to the quick-connect PCB on the current shunt, which links to the monitor with a standard RJ12 cable. A 10m RJ12 cable and a 2m battery cable with fuse are included, along with a front bezel for square or round mounting styles, a securing ring, and mounting screws — no additional parts are needed. A quick-install menu and a detailed setup menu guide you through configuration.

Standard Features

  • Battery voltage, current, power, ampere-hours consumed, and state of charge
  • Remaining time at the current discharge rate
  • Programmable visual and audible alarm
  • Programmable relay to shut off non-critical loads or start a generator
  • 500 amp quick-connect shunt and connection kit, with shunt options up to 10,000 amps
  • VE.Direct communication port
  • Stores historical data for evaluating usage patterns and battery health
  • Wide input voltage range: 9.5-95V
  • High current measurement resolution: 10 mA (0.01A)
  • Low current consumption: 2.9Ah per month (4mA) at 12V, 2.2Ah per month (3mA) at 24V

The BMV-700HS variant supports a 60-385 VDC range. Note: the BMV series is suitable for systems with a grounded minus only, as the battery monitor is not isolated from the shunt.
