Victron Autotransformer - Split Phase 120/240V, 100A

The Victron Autotransformer handles step-up, step-down, and split-phase load balancing on 120/240V systems. It's useful anywhere a split-phase supply — whether from the grid, a generator, or two stacked inverters — has to serve both 120V and 240V loads without overloading either leg.

On a typical split-phase circuit, 120V loads rarely draw evenly across both legs, which can leave one leg near its limit while the other still has spare capacity. Wiring an Autotransformer into the unused neutral absorbs that imbalance, letting you draw the supply's full rated capacity instead of losing a third or more of it to unbalanced loads.

Protection and Compatibility

The unit is temperature protected and disconnects automatically if it overheats; reset is manual. A built-in ground relay is included for use with Multi or Quattro inverter/chargers — when operating in inverter mode, this relay grounds the neutral output to ensure a GFCI functions correctly (the internal grounding relay in the 230/240V Multi or Quattro must be disabled).

The Autotransformer is also a practical alternative to stacking two 120V inverters when you need a 120/240V split-phase supply: pair a single 240V inverter with the Autotransformer instead.
